At one time the design and manufacture of hydraulic fishing equipment was the mainstay of our business, most of the equipment is still in use all over the British Isles and Ireland, a few of our winches are seeing service on their third boat.

As recently as July 2009 a winch fitted to a steel trawler built in Donegal in 1998 was fitted to a boat in Ardglass belonging to Mr Simon Wills.

All parts for the winches were made by us including various castings and the gearbox which usually consisted of a 685 mm diameter (27 inch) 4 DP cog and matching pinion.

We were approved suppliers to BIM (Board Iascaigh Mhara) in Southern Ireland and WFA (White Fish Authority) in UK. In the past both of these organizations offered generous grant aided packages enabling owners to modernize, re power and equip their vessels. In the short term everyone derived economic advantage, ourselves included, however the vastly increased catching capability has resulted in seriously depleted fish stocks, around the UK and Ireland.
